Winner announced of the PST Avatar Competition
The Pompe Support Team wanted to create a fun opportunity for children, as a show of support during lockdown. There were 13 entries and three winners have been chosen.
Rachel Thomas, Trustee of AGSD-UK and successful artist, had the difficult task of judging between all the entries. She said, “I judged it on Avatar criteria, also artistic merit and original ideas. So lovely to see them all. Well done to all the entrants.”
Winner , Pencil Avatar by Poppy
Rachel said, “A stunning avatar that fits the brief perfectly. I love all the added details, the camera, book and lego brick. The eyelashes are so friendly too! This is my winner- perfectly thought out and drawn.”
2nd place, Mr Goodie by Maxim
Rachel said, “What a lovely avatar- a Pompe super hero with a cape showing the promise of an optimistic future with the rainbow. A lovely drawing.”
3rd place, The Beast by Abdurrahman
Rachel said, “What a fabulous piece of art and an amazing description. I was blown away by all the thought taken. From an artist’s perspective, the colouring and crosshatching is beautifully done. Well done on excellent artwork!”
Here are all the wonderful entries from runners-up too.
Avatar fun washing the dishes?
To celebrate the hard work of everyone who submitted a drawing we are going to create a tea towel, using all the Avatars. It will be on sale on the AGSD UK website soon, every entrant will be sent their own tea-towel as well.

The drawings are so good, I felt a bit emotional seeing them. What an amazing group of young people we have. Thank you to AGSD for making such an effort to include them.
Thank you for a fun, creative competition! What a wonderful idea for our children in lockdown to express themselves through the art and raise the awareness for Rare Diseases!
