Family day at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

An opportunity not to miss

Lots of families came along, with friends and relatives too, to the AGSD-UK Family Day at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) on 9 November. The Giggle Company provided excellent entertainment.

The get-together is designed so that everyone can meet, with time to talk and share knowledge. Most families meet no one else with a GSD unless they come to the Family Day.

Support networks

Friendships and support networks are created. The teenagers have a WhatsApp group. Two of our GOSH teens have also now joined the Young People’s Forum at the hospital.

Nurses Mel McSweeny and Becky Bower provided time to talk with families, pictured below with dietitians Ide Herlihy and Rachel Skeath who ran a quiz with prizes.

Fun food quiz

How many spoons of sugar in a glass of cola? Dietitians at Great Ormond Street Hospital created a fun food quiz useful for all children living with a GSD.

This was the fourth Family Day provided by AGSD-UK, this time it was funded by a grant from The Edward Gostling Foundation.
