Walking course announced

Now in it’s 9th year, the “Walking with McArdle’s” course will be held over 19th to 26th July 2019, with the “Children & Parents” event overlapping by one full day and running from 24th to 29th July.

The venue this year will be the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in south west Wales. We shall be staying at the National Trust Stackpole Centre which we have visited twice before. The centre is located on the edge of the Bosherton Lakes with some easy, level walking for us to start. There are great coastal walks with cliffs, bays and beaches, even a boat trip to walk on an island. We also have a choice of riverside walks, estuaries and even some hills. It is a beautiful part of the world and offers ideal walking for courses with people with McArdle Disease and related conditions.

The Swan Centre which we are staying in has greater capacity than our previous accommodation and has a range of single, twin and triple rooms. If the previous years are anything to go by we will have course members from about 10 countries around the world.

With a combination of tutorials, discussions and sharing experiences on the walks, the course provides a safe and supportive environment for people to improve their knowledge, their techniques and their aerobic fitness and to extend their boundaries. Watch out for details on the web site, or even better drop an email expressing your interest to the McArdle’s coordinator, Andrew Wakelin, at type5@agsd.org.uk.
