Get free Vitamin D supplements (England)
Use the NHS service to get free daily vitamin D supplements if you’re at high risk (clinically extremely vulnerable) from coronavirus (COVID-19).
During autumn and winter, everyone is advised to take Vitamin D to keep their bones and muscles healthy and to support their general health.
This is particularly important if you’ve been indoors over the spring and summer as you may not have been getting enough vitamin D from sunlight.
Who can use this service?
You can use this service if all of these apply:
- you have received a letter from the NHS or the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) saying you’re at high risk from coronavirus
- you’re aged 18 or over
- you live in England
When you apply, they will check you’re on the shielded patients list of people at high risk from coronavirus. If you have received a letter about this, you’re on the list.
Register before 21st February 2021
You can make 1 application for vitamin D supplements. You need to apply before Sunday 21 February 2021 and they will send you 4 months’ supply of supplements.
If you have not received a letter saying you’re at high risk from coronavirus and think you should have, speak to your GP or healthcare professional.
We understand that 2.5 million clinically vulnerable people have been offered the Vitamin D supply by the government. Whilst we don’t have any information on the take-up we understand that the government supply facility is overloaded. The government have suggested that those who are able to should purchase an initial supply, available via pharmacies and supermarkets. If anyone feels they should have received the Vitamin D by now, we suggest they contact the Department of Health and Social Care.
I applied for the vitamin D supplements which the letter from the department of health & social care said I was entitled to by the last date that was given to apply by , I am still receiving treatment for cancer, until now I have heard nothing about my request.
I completed an on line request before Christmas as I have a letter stating I am extremely vulnerable. I have heard nothing more. Can you say when any supple is likely to arrive.
We understand that the government’s despatch service is simply overloaded, but we will investigate.
