Thanks to the Pompe Support Team and other hosts, successful get-togethers were held around the UK to celebrate the 2019 International Pompe Day.
Stoke-on-Trent
Ben Parker hosted the relaxed weekend social in Stoke on April 13th and 14th and was joined by a people who had travelled far and wide to be there. They discussed tips, aids, adaptations and had a demonstration of a lifting device for use after a fall. Everyone enjoyed friendship, support, fun and photos with Pompe mascot Hope Travels.
Swansea
On the International Pompe Day itself, Monday April 15th, the Welsh meeting was held in Swansea and included an Easter Egg Raffle with some surprises too. Vicky Clarke and John Foxwell hosted. John summarised learning from an online course on Falls Prevention, which he had recently completed. Anthony Mitchell spoke about his patient journey.
Southampton
Charity Director, Allan Muir and his wife Barbara attended the meeting hosted by Malcolm and Beverley Knightley in Southampton. Allan gave an update on trials and potential new therapies.
